A little more info
To help club members step into 2023, The Windmill Walk is back, and this year’s edition is taking on an Ashes twist.
Our club members and their families will be walking a virtual route taken by the England Team in the 2021/22 Ashes series in Australia. Starting at The Gabba we will be heading to the Adelaide Oval, the MCG, the Sydney Cricket Ground, before finishing off at the Blundstone Oval in Hobart.
The Walk is free to enter, and registration is now open at https://upminstercricketclub.bigteamchallenge.com/
This route is just over 3,000 miles and the equivalent of a little over 7 million steps. The challenge will start on Tuesday 19 January, and will finish on Friday 28 April, at our first club social event of the season.
Players will be competing in teams of up to 5, and participants can either enter as a team, or individually (where you will be added to a team). If you would like to be a Team Leader, once you have registered please email [email protected] and we will set you up. Once you are setup you will be able to invite Team Mates to join your Team.
Only synced steps will count towards the Challenge (no manual entries) . Please make sure you have a step tracker device synced by the time the challenge starts.
Along the way we hope to raise some money for Upminster CC and our local NHS. All funds raised will be split 50/50 between Upminster CC and the Charity Trust of the Havering, Barking & Redbridge NHS Hospitals.
Anyone wishing to sponsor our active walkers can donate here https://www.upminstercricketclub.com/payments/windmill-walk-2--ashes-edition-87812.html
Good luck to everyone taking on this challenge, and happy stepping!!
